Battery Recycling

Battery Recycling

We are a central drop-off point for domestic batteries in good condition.

Batteries are full of harmful chemicals that leach into our soils and waterways when they’re left to break down in landfills. By recycling batteries, we can make sure that the useful elements can be broken down and recovered for reuse.

Any batteries that are swollen, leaky, rusty or corroded cannot be accepted and should be taken to the Hazardous Battery Dropoff point at the Southern Landfill.

We accept:

✔️ Domestic / household batteries - free

✔️ Commmercial / office collection batteries - $5 per kg

✔️ Laptop and power tool batteries - $5 per kg

✔️ E-waste containing batteries - find out more here

We can’t accept:

❌ Leaking or damaged batteries

❌ Lithium-ion batteries e.g. electric bicycle batteries

❌ Car or truck batteries

❌ Lead Acid batteries (but they can be dropped at the Southern Landfill Tip Shop)
